Five AI Stories, One Question: Nvidia Earnings, Unitree, Alibaba, Hexaware and Why Judgment Is the New Edge

Nvidia reports tonight, Unitree fell 45% from its IPO peak, Alibaba held $80, Hexaware's CEO put a 25% discount on IT work, and Forbes says judgment is the new edge. Five AI stories in a day, one question: who keeps the money AI makes?

The AI trade sent five different messages in 24 hours. Read together, they describe where the money is going.

HeyTheo Research — August 26, 2026

The Quick Read

Five AI headlines landed between Tuesday and Wednesday, August 25–26, 2026: Nvidia earnings are due after the close with $92 billion expected, Unitree fell more than 45% from its IPO peak, Alibaba gained 0.82% and held above $80, Hexaware's CEO said AI could cut IT fees by up to 25%, and Forbes argued that judgment, not expertise, is now the edge. Together they show AI revenue concentrating at the chip layer while the cost lands on IT services and on new shareholders.

Five AI stories in a day is a lot, so here they are in one place, ranked by what they tell you rather than by how loud they were. Nvidia (NVDA) earnings are the loudest and we covered the setup in yesterday's note, so it gets the shortest section here. The other four are where the new information is.

Worth a look: none of the five is bullish or bearish on its own. Read together, they answer a single question. Who keeps the money AI makes?

Cheap expertise changes what's worth paying for

Source: Yahoo Finance quote pages, Semafor/Reuters, Bloomberg, Forbes, as of the August 25, 2026 session.

Scoreboard of five AI stock stories on August 25 to 26, 2026: Nvidia earnings, Unitree IPO slide, Alibaba, Hexaware CEO warning, Forbes on judgment.

1. Nvidia Earnings Tonight: The $92 Billion Bar

Nvidia (NVDA) has to show $92 billion in revenue and $2.09 in adjusted EPS after the close, per Bloomberg consensus cited by Yahoo Finance. That's a 96% jump from a year ago, with Data Center expected at $85.4 billion.

The stock rose 2.19% on Tuesday, ending a seven-session losing streak that Yahoo Finance's AlphaSpace data called the longest since 2022. The line to watch inside the report is the split: $43.5 billion from hyperscalers, who are building their own chips, and $41.7 billion from industrial and enterprise buyers, who aren't. NVDA goes into the print between $210 and $225.

2. Unitree: A Supply Story Dressed as a Robot Story

Unitree's slide is about how much new paper the market can absorb, not about robots. Shares of the Chinese robot maker have fallen more than 45% from their debut peak, Semafor reports, and a Beijing asset manager told Reuters investors had been carried away by the technology-revolution story.

Here's the thing: the drop landed in the same week as Alibaba's record share sale and memory chipmaker YMTC's IPO plans. One analyst told Bloomberg the wave of listings is spreading the cost of AI investment onto public investors. Unitree's own founder has said the company is lagging in real-world applications. That combination, heavy supply plus a founder managing expectations down, is what a post-IPO air pocket usually looks like.

3. Alibaba: The One That Held

Alibaba (BABA) gained 0.82% on Tuesday and stayed above the $80 level traders have been watching, even though its own record share sale added to the supply that hurt Unitree.

That's a useful tell. The selling in Chinese tech is concentrated in newly listed names, not the established ones. BABA is also the US-listed way to hold the China AI story, which makes it the name to watch if the Unitree-style selling spreads or fades. Modest rebound, no drama, and that is the point.

4. Hexaware: AI Puts a 25% Price on Itself

Hexaware's CEO told Bloomberg AI could cut the price of routine IT work by 20% to 25%. Srikrishna Ramakarthikeyan said customers will demand lower fees as AI takes over tasks, and the company will need fewer people for the same job. More than half of Hexaware's revenue is already "AI infused"; he expects 80% within three years.

Hexaware (HEXT.NS) slipped 0.21% on the day, but Bloomberg notes the stock is down more than 20% since its IPO early last year, while Infosys (INFY), Wipro and Tata Consultancy Services are down about 40% over the same span. That's the flip side of Nvidia's $92 billion. Efficiency lands as revenue at the chip layer and as a discount at the services layer. The sector money-flow view on HeyTheo is where that rotation shows up before a CEO says it out loud.

5. Forbes: Expertise Got Cheap. Judgment Didn't.

Forbes' argument this week is that AI made expertise cheap, and judgment is the new competitive advantage. For a company, that means the value moves from knowing things to deciding things.

For an investor it means the same. Nobody needs to pay for a summary of Nvidia's earnings anymore; a model will write it in seconds. What's still scarce is knowing what to do with it: which level matters, what rule fires, whether the rule has held up before. That is the case for rule-based research over black boxes. On HeyTheo, every trigger shows the rule behind it and you can backtest it before you trust it, which is the judgment part done in the open.

Timeline of five AI stock stories from August 25 to 26, 2026: Unitree slide, Alibaba holds, Hexaware CEO warning, Forbes on judgment, Nvidia earnings after the close.

The Bottom Line

Five stories, one flow of money: toward the chip layer, away from IT services, and onto the balance sheets of whoever buys the new listings. A disciplined reader watches three things this week: whether NVDA closes outside $210–$225 after tonight's report, whether BABA holds $80 as more China tech supply arrives, and whether INFY moves with Nvidia's number or against it. Check the rule behind any trigger before you act, and remember you trade through your own broker. HeyTheo helps you decide. More reads on the HeyTheo blog.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Nvidia's Q2 2026 earnings expectations?

Wall Street expects $92 billion in revenue and $2.09 in adjusted EPS, per Bloomberg consensus via Yahoo Finance, a 96% year-over-year revenue increase. Data Center revenue is expected at $85.4 billion, up 107%, and Nvidia reports after the close on August 26, 2026.

Is the Unitree IPO slide a sign of an AI bubble?

Unitree's 45%-plus drop from its debut peak is a supply signal more than a bubble verdict. It coincided with Alibaba's record share sale and YMTC's IPO plans, and the founder has said the company lags in real-world applications. It shows the cost of the AI build-out being passed to new public shareholders.

Why did Alibaba stock rise while Unitree fell?

Alibaba gained 0.82% on Tuesday and held above $80 because selling in Chinese tech is concentrated in newly listed names. Established companies with earnings are absorbing the extra supply; new listings without a track record are not.

What did the Hexaware CEO say about AI and IT jobs?

Hexaware CEO Srikrishna Ramakarthikeyan told Bloomberg AI could lower the price of routine IT projects by 20% to 25%, and that fewer people will be needed for the same work. He said Hexaware will hire fewer entry-level engineers and move toward fixed-price and platform contracts.

What does "judgment is the new competitive advantage" mean for investors?

It means the scarce skill is deciding what to do with information, not gathering it. AI can summarize a report instantly; knowing which level matters, which rule applies and whether that rule has held up historically is what still separates a disciplined investor from a headline reader.
